Mandela Park Mosaics is a community arts development project that has taken an ancient European medium and Africanized it. We focus on fusing Western and Xhosa culture. While life skills and the technique of mosaic are taught to the women of the Mandela Park Township - qualities of humility, pride and dignity transpire from the Xhosa culture.

Ntofo vases are a very special, unique invention! 

Ntofo means 'floppy' in Xhosa.....   The tiles used are Riverglass mosaic tiles, combined with recycled bottletops “floating” in a non-toxic silicone base. The rubbery texture of the silicone lends itself to a floppiness that can be squished and squashed. However, this should be done with care as the tiles can break through the silicone causing holes.

Each vase is watertight and suitable for fresh flowers in water. Ntofo vases are also suitable as planters for soil-based plants.

Cleaning Suggestions:

Regular/Daily Cleaning- Use warm water and clean with a soft sponge and dishwashing liquid. Drip dry. 

Monthly-Use a small amount of bleach and water. Rinse in the solution and drip dry.

Not recommended for food storage!
